And welcome to Etude Piano Studio! My name is Amanda Slyter, and I love helping students become accomplished pianists.
An Etude is a piece of music that focuses on one area of technique, but is then performed because of its artistic merit; I think learning to play the piano should function the same way. In lessons I teach technique and theory to develop your overall musicianship, but we also enjoy the music and have fun because creativity should be enjoyed!
I received my B.A. in Music Education with an emphasis in both Piano and Voice from Vanguard University of Southern California, and moved up to Boise with my hubby, where I've been teaching music in many capacities ever since! I have taught private piano lessons for the last nine years, and specialize in beginning students, children with developmental disabilities, and those who have taken lessons before but were not taught how to read music/theory.
